It's been a month since the last pictures, and now the corn is up to my eyeballs. I'll have to work on some pictures soon! We had a month of getting ready for passover, celebrating passover, and recovering from passover. In the midst of it we lost the blueberries we planted (5 of 9 anyway), so I replaced those with some rabbiteye blueberries from a local source. We were staying 30 minutes out of town and thought we could get by with every-other-day watering, but the trees were very tiny with a very small root system and I think they really needed every day. Another lesson learned! One of hundreds in this second year of southern gardening, and first year of really big gardening.
Meanwhile, while on vacation (at the lovely, lovely beach), I read a wonderful book from the library that now I have to purchase. The advice is very useful and his whole philosophy fits exactly with ours. Very frugal methods, favoring organic ways but using other options when it is warranted, and intensively planting the same way we are. I highly, highly recommend The Mini Farming Guide to Vegetable Gardening! by Brett Markham.
